The Nigerian Institution of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (NIEEE) is a Division of The Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE). The NSE Council established a committee in the 1980s to map out modalities on forming groups that would deal specifically with sub-discipline interests, so as to facilitate interaction among members with identical interests. This is also to ensure relevance to the aspirations and needs of members.

At the end of the International Conference and Exhibition on Power and Telecommunications (ICEPT) 2007 and at the same venue, NIEEE held her Annual General Meeting (A.G.M.) on 18th October 2007, during which new set of Executive Committee members were elected to run the affairs of the Institution for year 2008.
