International Conference and Exhibition on Power and Telecommunications, ICEPT 2009, is the response of the Nigerian Institution of Electrical and Electronic Engineers ( NIEEE ), a division of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, to the current global economic meltdown phenomenon that is sweeping across the world, the organisers have said. According to a statement issued by Engineer James I. Ozore , Publicity Secretary, NIEEE, ICEPT 2009 will further build on the achievements of last year's edition which was well received by engineers and other professionals, including affiliates practicing in the various sectors of the global economy.
ICEPT 2009 will take a giant step in ensuring that the benefits and advantages of global integration attained through technological innovations for economic competitiveness are put into constructive use by various practitioners in both private and public sectors, the statement added.
The sub-themes of ICEPT 2009, LEADERSHIP gathered includes: Human capacity development, regulatory framework, power generation technologies, power transmission and distribution. Others are; Investment opportunities, operations and maintenance, communications infrastructure.
The targeted participants, according to the Organisation's spokesman are Engineers, Electrical, Electronics, Control and Instrumentation, Telecommunications and Computers in various vocations, other professionals in the industry, research institutions, higher institutions, agency responsible for engineering and technological development and the general public.
